Bellville Hockey Club is an amateur field hockey club playing at Bellville Astro, Cnr Landros & Voortrekker Rd, Bellville, Cape Town. The club is the responsible party for personal information it handles. Its information officer is the club chairperson, who you can reach at [email protected].

Nothing that you type in. The site has no forms, sign-ups, logins or comment boxes.

Like every website, the servers that deliver it record basic technical details of each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, and the browser you used. These logs are kept for a short time only, to keep the site running and secure, and aren't used to identify or profile anyone.

There are no advertising tools on the site. The fonts, photos and 3D files all come from our own server.

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, how people arrive (for example from a search or Instagram), and general details such as the type of device, browser and the city or country. Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address, and it doesn't tell us who you are. Advertising features and Google signals are switched off.

Google provides the service and may process this data on servers outside South Africa, under its own data protection terms. The club uses the reports only to improve the site, and keeps them for no more than 14 months.

Google Analytics sets its cookies (named _ga and _ga_…, lasting up to two years) only after you accept. If you decline, nothing from Google loads and no cookies are set. The site remembers your choice in your browser's storage so it doesn't ask again; it sets no other cookies.

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Declining afterwards removes the Google Analytics cookies.

The home page shows the club's latest public Instagram posts. Our server fetches those images from Instagram and serves them itself, so your browser doesn't contact Instagram unless you click through to a post.

The site links to services the club uses: the club WhatsApp group, PlayLocal (registration and fees), Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps and email. Once you follow a link, that service's own privacy policy applies. Joining the WhatsApp group shares your phone number and name with its other members.

If you email the club, we use your name, address and message only to reply and help you. We keep the conversation only as long as it's needed, and don't share it outside the club committee unless you ask us to or the law requires it.

Registration and fee payments happen on PlayLocal, not on this website; PlayLocal's privacy policy covers the details you enter there. The club uses the member details it receives only to run the club: membership, teams, training, fixtures and club news, and to register players with the hockey unions as league rules require.

The site doesn't collect information from anyone, including children. A parent or guardian completes a junior's registration on PlayLocal and gives consent for the club to handle their child's information.

Photos on this site and the club's social media show club players in training and matches. If you would like a photo of yourself or your child removed, email [email protected] and we'll take it down.

The site is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Members' information is kept to the committee members who need it to run the club.

Under POPIA you can ask the club to:

• tell you what personal information it holds about you, and give you a copy;
• correct information that's wrong or out of date;
• delete information it no longer needs or has no right to keep;
• stop using your information for a particular purpose, such as club news.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
